Sleep Park

I thought that I would clear the air about my "sleeping" on the job from an earlier post. Though I would LOVE to take a nap under my desk or even sitting up in my chair, it's just not happening. While in the office, my opportunity to blink is the closest thing to sleep that I get.

However, when I am exhausted (I mean head bobbing and ears ringing tired), I will occasionally (only in the nice months) drive my car down the little park down the street from my office during lunch. During the noon hour, Hidden Pond Park, is the hot spot for sleep deprived employees from around the area. The trick is to get there a little bit before noon, or all of the shady parking spots will be taken.

You may think that this is weird, but it's an honest to goodness hoppin' place. There are always (at least when I've been there) fifteen to twenty people parked there - windows halfway down, seats reclined, and sunglasses on (because that TOTALLY disguises the fact that you're zonked out at the park!). I would say that 70% of the people snoozing at the park are employees of my company. I've seen marketing people, IT people, R&D Lab people, Credit/Finance people, Sales people from other divisions...it's a more popular destination at lunch time than the McDonald's across the street from the office.

So, no...I'm not at any risk of being caught by my boss zonked out at my desk. But, if you happen to be in Chanhassen between noon and one, there's a slight chance that you'll see my Mazda in the second furthest parking spot under the trees at Hidden Pond Park - windows only a quarter of the way down (because I'm paranoid), sunglasses on, mouth probably wide open (I have a deviated septum), and driver's seat reclined so that you can only see the top of my head peaking above the window.

You may think it's silly, but 20-30 minutes of hardcore napping in the park is HEAVEN!
