Stranger danger...

My friend Marla and I have known one another since junior high school. She was a friend from church, but we also took piano from the same wonderful...but slightly wacky teacher, Mrs. Erickson (more on Mrs. Erickson in a future blog).

Marla and I went out for lunch in this little city called Excelsior on Saturday. After lunch, we walked around the city, because the weather was beautiful and they were having sidewalk sales. As we walked toward the end of the street, we noticed a man walking a little too close behind us.

Now, for most people, like Marla, she just thought, "weirdo walking behind us...move away". For paranoid crazies like me, four thoughts raced through my head: 1) mugger 2) rapist 3) kidnapper 4) murderer! I don't know if I've just been watching way too much Law and Order, but anytime I feel someone behind me that makes me a little uncomfortable like that...those four thoughts pop into my head.

In the end, the man was probably just a oddball that doesn't know that people have boundaries. However, in my mind, he was about to pull out some sort of lethal weapon and threaten to kill us if we didn't get into his black cargo van with tinted windows. It was a narrow escape!

Thanks to my friend Marla for a good and SAFE afternoon in Excelsior.
